The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), the industry
association that represents risk managers in the securities industry, handed
out gongs last week to William Martin and Richard Sandor. Martin, head of
group risk management for Royal Bank of Scotland Group, was named risk
manager of the year. Sandor, often referred to as "the father of financial
futures", was presented with the lifetime achievement award. GARP praised
Martin for his "vision and skill"and Sandor for his "groundbreaking spirit."
